As a member of Philanthropy New Zealand you will become part of an organisation that is committed to grantmaking that works. We have two groups of members:

1. Organisations and individuals who give or who are interested in giving

These include:

• established grantmakers such as private philanthropists; family, community and corporate foundations; and iwi and community trusts

• corporates and businesses

• individuals, including philanthropic consultants

As a Philanthropy New Zealand member you’ll get to meet and share your experiences with others who give, to hear from local and international experts in the field, and to attend regular professional development seminars. 2. Organisations that receive/or are interested in philanthropic funding

This is the membership for community organisations interested in finding out more about who is who in philanthropy and keeping up with news and trends in giving. You may receive philanthropic funding or grants, or be interested in the work of funders.  Find out more here.

Grantmaker membership

Grantmaker membership is open to all grantmaking organisations. These include private philanthropists; family, community and corporate foundations; and iwi and community trusts.  Subscriptions are on a graduated scale according to your organisation’s level of grantmaking.

• What is the total value of grants you make in a year?*

  • Annual grants of less than $100,000: $510 + GST

  • Annual grants between $100,000 and $500,000: $1,020 + GST

  • Annual grants between $500,000 and $1 million: $4,080 + GST

  • Annual grants between $1 million and $5 million: $5,610 + GST

  • Annual grants between $5 million and $10 million: $7,650 + GST

  • Annual grants over $10 million: $10,149 + GST

Individual membership

Individual membership is open to individuals with an interest in philanthropy.  Staff employed by grantmaking organisations that are not currently members of Philanthropy New Zealand may also become individual members.  This will allow them to attend our events, access our resources and receive our publications.

COST: $402.90 + GST

Community membership

Community membership is open to not-for-profit organisations that deliver services into the community and receive funding from grants.
